Anna was born in the extreme South along some famous beaches. She grew up with four other siblings being placed in the middle.
Anna moved to the USA to marry her husband Rodney and has resided in Utah since then. Her husband, a native of Idaho, met her in her hometown. They fell in love and she came to Utah on Christmas Eve to be married two weeks later. They are the parents of three princes and a princess.
Early on in her life she showed an affinity for sewing and took classes that rewarded her with the opportunities of doing costuming for the cast of four musicals, which she enjoyed immensely. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Some of Anna’s writing recognitions:
She received the Editor’s Choice Award from the International Library of Poetry and had her article entitled A New American Mother published by Desert Saints Magazine. Her short story entitled Amerine—Fairy Princess wan awarded an award in the Oquirrh chapter contest and was published by Kalkion Magazine. (Now it is published as an e-book. She has three first page awards with different book in her series. A bronze medal for "Elfs in a Conquered Realm."
Other articles about family and relationship have been published frequently in the MOMS CLUBÒ of Salt Lake Valley-West. She has published 7 books on her Elf series. Her love story was published by Deseret book in the anthology entitled Angels Round About by July C. Olsen. Another of her articles was included in the book Mother’s Message in a Bottle, edited by Tyler Hayden and published by Ninbus Publishing.
A recent interview from Anna into the why and how of Anna's trilogy:
What has drawn you to the fantasy genre you love to write?
The endless possibilities and the freedom it gives me. Many genres have too many rules to keep up with...fantasy is the one that lets you combine other genres with imagination and provides total freedom. I like that.
How do you come up with these ideas for the stories?
The trilogy came to be because I have many questions about Tolkien's characters in Lord of the Rings. What happened to the dwarf when he went home? and Legolas? Why are elfs special? and what do they do with the hundreds of years they live? What kind of woman would Legolas fall for? That is how The Elf and the Princess was born. The other two books in the trilogy are different adventures in the main character's life.
Later on, with Shahira and the Flying Elfs I wanted to know more about the giant eagles that were not explored that much in Tolkien's books. The same ideas prevailed with the wizards, who became characters in The Roilden Stones of Elf Mountain and Curse of the Elfs. With The Royal Elf of Abalon it was different. I wanted to know if I could hurt my elfs and I wondered what kind of person would be wicked enough to do so. And this character jumped into my mind. That is how The Royal Elf of Abalon came to be.
When did you start to write seriously as an author?
Nine years ago, after the Lord of the Rings movies were done. They were such a beautiful rendition of the books that I watched them in awe. That is when I started the Silent Warrior Trilogy. Though The Roilden Stones of Elf Mountain I started many years before, after I read The Lord of the Rings for the fourth time. I couldn't get enough of them.
How long did it take for you to publish your first book?
Two years. I didn't want to feel rushed so I wrote six books before the Trilogy was finally published.
What do you do when you are not writing?
Watching my little ones grow up and loving every minute of it. Camping, dressing up grown people for the Fantasy Con and a stake Play called ZION. Or doing a piñata for my three kiddos whose birthdays were in May. Or expecting my ninth granddaughter which will be born any minute. Yes, life is busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
