Every
six months, those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have the
opportunity to watch a world-wide broadcast of messages from church
leaders. Most of us look forward to this
occasion. The conference starts on
Saturday morning and ends on Sunday late afternoon. In two hour increment,s we hear messages of
hope and optimism.
Truly
these are messages of hope:
David Bednar: “The Lord’s admonition to “be still” (Psalm 46:10) reminds individuals to focus on the Savior as the ultimate source of spiritual stillness of the soul.”
“Our homes should be the ultimate combination
of both sacred time and holy places wherein individuals and families can ‘be
still’ and know that God is our Heavenly Father, we are His children, and Jesus
Christ is the Savior.”
Dieter F. Uchtdorf: “Life is not all
full of highs, for there is opposition — and feeling sad is not a sign of
failure. But there is a peaceful confidence that comes from following the
Savior.”
“The peace He gives us is not like what the world gives.
It is better. It is higher and holier.”
“Joy is the very purpose of God’s plan for His children.”
“Worldly happiness cannot last, but godly joy is eternal.
“It is the joy that endures heartbreak, penetrates sorrow and diminishes
loneliness.”
And one of my personal favorites:
Andrea Munoz Spannaus:
David (from the Old Testament) was prepared with five stones when he battled Goliath. “What if each of David’s stones represented a strength, we need to be triumphant in our lives?
Those five stones can represent:
“Our
love for God and our close relationship with Him give us the strength we need
to transform our hearts and more easily overcome our challenges.
Faith
in Jesus Christ “means to fully trust His wisdom, His timing, His love and His
power to atone for our sins.”
There are others who have given us positive messages
during these difficult times. There are many, many good people living
everywhere all over the world who share positive messages of hope. We need to
remember this when social media, global elites and heads of government tell us
otherwise.
One such person came as a surprise to me:
Santiago Pliego, Director of Venture Fund Lead at a company called New Founding. Santiago wrote and posted an article called Vibe Shift which was noticed by many. It went viral. One of
those who noticed was Tucker Carlson and interviewed him as he was surprised as I was to find
out that this New Founding company took on this mission:
We
build and back companies defined by American ideals and a positive national
vision.
We
explicitly oppose DEI/ESG and the bureaucratization of American business culture.
We
promote a culture of entrepreneurship and excellence, betting on great companies,
products, and customers disfavored by corrosive ideologies.
As Santiago says in this interview, people are attracted to positive thinking.
Listen to Tucker and Santiago discuss this positive outlook to building companies on the ideals that Americans have known for centuries. It’s so refreshing and gives me hope that the younger generations have the same ideals in business as generations before them.
