Finding Hozho: Forgiveness is Important

Every so often there comes a movie that just touches your heart like no other.  Tonight I watched such a movie.

Since I work with Native American Fatherhood and Families Association (NAFFA), I have the privilege to meet many wonderful Native Americans. I have learned an incredible amount of their lifestyle, culture, music and dance.   It is an amazing culture.

Tonight was the  premier of the movie Finding Hozho. I have known about the coming of this movie for a few months as  NAFFA has been friends with Travis Holton Hamilton (producer, writer, director) for over 5 years.  He spent his time in the LDS mission field with the Navajos and learned to love those people. Travis has been creating stories and producing movies since 2007. This latest creation opened tonight in Tempe, Arizona.

The story was inspiring and the acting was on point.  It was such a wonderful experience to watch. An example of how a movie should run.

The story leads the audience to understand how an abused child from his father learns to forgive him as an adult. The music, the sets, the dialog.  So wonderful. Everyone should watch this movie.

The icing on the cake was the main character played by Frankie Gilmore was in Vietnam about the same time and military cavalry that my husband, Tom was.  They had a lot to talk about after the movie was over. What a wonderful evening.
